2. Environmental Projects/Activities Management Area Project Status • Pollution Reduction Programs • PRP U2 Haul road wheel generated dust monitoring – Three Air Quality rounds of monitoring completed with control efficiencies of 92%, 92% and 93%. Final report to demonstrate 80% control efficiency to be sent to EPA in August 14. • PRP U3 Handling overburden in adverse weather conditions – Performance indicators for adverse weather conditions have been developed and weather station alarming established. Following an alarm being received an investigation would be undertaken to determine the need for any management measures. • Real-Time Dust Management • No verified alarms have been received. • 2014 Noxious Weed Program • Commenced April – focusing on Giant Parramatta Grass & Flora Blackberry • 2014 Wild Dog Control Program • Commenced April 2014 (trapping) Fauna • Scheduled to be repeated later in 2014 • Roseville West Pit • Last blast completed 29 August 2013 – 24 blast for 2013, no Blast licence criteria exceedances • BRN Pit • Blasting ongoing – 3 blasts for 2014, no licence criteria exceedances Noise Mitigation works:- • CAT988 loader to 110dB • Complete • 5m ROM barrier; stockpiles maintained at 5m • Complete height • Secondary crusher to 106 dB • Full replacement completed • Maintain southern coal stockpile at 137RL • Complete • Increase noise bund southern side of CHPP by • Complete 3m 28 April 2014 4 4
2. Environmental Projects/Activities – cont. Management Area Project Status • CAT D10 dozer to 110dB • Complete Noise • New conveyors to be consistent with current low • Ongoing noise technology • Duralie train unloading facility • Alsynite replaced with standard sheeting (complete). • Rail loop acoustic barriers • Complete August 2013. • Noise assessment conducted with reductions of 9-16 dB recorded. • Low noise idlers on CV18 and CV17 • Complete; 6dB gain achieved per conveyor • Enclosure on coal loader • Completed February 2014. • Real-Time Noise • System operational. No alarms received in last quarter. Real-time noise monitoring profiles continue to be monitored and indicate no exceedence of the performance criteria due to mining operations. • Lighting optimisation (reductions) • Implementation of change to prevent daytime use of Lighting exterior CHPP lighting. • Further optimisation work planned for night-time operations • Stockpile lighting now controllable, lights turned off during the day • Roseville West Pit • 5 Ha cover crop of millet established, planting of additional Rehabilitation pasture grasses completed • BRN Pit • Planting of 13 Ha of native plant species completed • Old Main Pit • Reshaping of southern edge of main pit in progress, planting of cover crop upon completion of shaping – May. 28 April 2014 5 5
