  5. PMHN Maternity Pathways • Ensure midwifery colleagues in rural areas are included in the process by facilitating consultation by VC • Developed a survey to understand the process for developing a specialist midwife • Meeting with Heads Of Midwifery to consult on specialist roles

Regional Collaboration • The network has welcomed the opportunity to meet with the North of Scotland Perinatal Mental Health Regional Network and share with colleagues the networks strategic aims and discover the work that has been undertaken in the North of Scotland. • The North of Scotland’s aim is to raise awareness of perinatal and infant mental health needs in the North including areas of Highlands, Shetland, Orkney, Grampian, Moray, Tayside and Stornoway. -

  7. Regional Collaboration -Minister of Mental Health Mrs Maureen Watt’s visit to NHS Grampian in Dec 2017 -”Midwifery in Scotland-into the 2020s”

Developing Maternity Expertise • Providing expert advice to boards who are recruiting Specialist PMH Midwives • Providing support and advice for Specialist PMH Midwives currently in post • Providing support and advice for midwifery colleagues across Scotland, Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK who are interested in developing a PMH service

  9. Looking Forward • Mapping and Gapping • Best Start Implementation Group (working together on action points from BS) • Badgernet PMH National User Group • Continue to engage with midwives across the country • VC Maternity Event for midwives in rural areas

  10. Looking Forward • Develop a paper for boards re specialist midwives, working with heads of midwifery • Work alongside RCM to establish national PMH midwives forum • Scottish Maternity and Midwifery Festival • Looking at development of services in remote/rural/low population density areas
