High School Mascot Rebranding
Lawrence Central Bear Missouri State University Bear 2012 Lawrence North Wildcat Kansas State University Wildcat 2003 LC & LN Current logos used with permission from Missouri and Kansas State Universities.
Rationale for Change: ● Summer 2018 contact from Missouri State regarding discontinuing use of the current Lawrence Central Bear, for which they hold the trademark. ● While there has been no contact from Kansas State regarding the Wildcat, they could make the same decision at any time. ● Trademarking of the high school logos will prevent outside interference with district and school branding and marketing.
School re-branding committee members included: ● Professional branding/marketing/graphics agency ● District Administration ● Building Administration ● Coaches ● Parents
Preserving the Past... In committee, review was done of both schools’ past high school yearbooks to see the evolution of the Bear and Wildcat logos over time. Images here are from 1980.
