Our Future Following the Banyule City Council 2018 Declaration of a Climate Emergency a broad and diverse Banyule community developed mechanisms for a sustainable future in a shared language, enabling the emergence of a thriving, regenerative community who are recognised as a global exemplar of living kindly, treading lightly and replenishing the Earth. We now all share a deep satisfaction that we, as humanity, will be okay.

  9. Waste Big Idea: Avoid waste, instal neighbourhood composting and address plastic packaging Energy Big Idea: Reduce carbon emissions in Banyule by 50% by 2020 and boost smart grid and demand response

Transportation Big Idea: Banyule Council makes all decisions on transport planning and infrastructure spending based on the following priorities* 1 walking and cycling 2 electrified public transport 3 private Electric Vehicles 4 ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) cars and trucks (*a reversal of the usual priorities)
