Attendance & Punctuality
A pupil with 90% attendance throughout their school life will have missed a whole school year – nearly one thousand hours of learning.
So what?
• Missing just 17 days in one year can mean dropping a full grade at GCSE. • The rate of offending by young people who truant school is 3 times higher than those who do not truant. • School truants are 6 times more likely to be unemployed. • 5 or more GCSEs can increase wages by 42%.
The good news is …..
Progress Measures
So in 2017, we have a mixture of grades happening… English and math will be graded on a 9-1 grade scale whilst all other GCSEs will retain the A*-G grades for this year. New GCSE Grade Old GCSE Grade 1 G 2 F 3 E 4 D 5 C 6 B 7 A 8 A* 9 A**
What is tonight's making the grade all about?
• Finding out about the new progress measures • Fining out about the new English & Maths GCSEs • Building relationships • Offer support at home • Knowing what's in store • But most importantly you are not in this alone
