LVBC Highlight of the 3 rd LVB Donors’ Conference The main objective was to seek for partnership with Development Partners to support the implementation of programme areas spelled out in the Strategic Plan (2011 – 2016)
Highlight of the 3 rd LVB LVBC Donors’ Conference Held on 17th &18th June, 2013 in Entebbe, Uganda Officially opened by His Excellency Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi VP, Republic of UG Organized by LVBC with the support of ICA 40 representatives of development partners attended Fifteen (15) senior representatives of the Partner States also attended LVBC presented 22 project concept notes 19 Interests were expressed for either financing or technical cooperation
Interests Expressed LVBC Theme-1: Water supply and sanitation, waste management and population health IFC expressed willingness to work with LVBC on the Solid Waste Management programme and bring on board private sector; AfDB is liaising with LVBC on up-scaling LVWATSAN AFD expressed willingness to work with LVBC on water quality programs on the shores of Lake Victoria Packard Foundation expressed interest in funding Population and Health projects Dilapidated and Hyacinth Chocked Kisumu Port
Interests Expressed LVBC Theme-2: Climate change, environment and natural resources management IFAD expressed interest working with LVBC on Climate change aspects especially in climate smart agriculture and rural livelihood; AfDB is willing to work with LVBC on the water hyacinth removal UNEP is ready to work with LVBC on development of the Lake Victoria Atlas and State of the Basin Report
Interests Expressed RT 2 LVBC Cont’ed… Theme-2: Climate change, environment and natural resources management World Bank is open for discussion on activities and interventions to be incorporated in the APL 3 of LVEMP II Finland is interested in funding a program on Forest Legal Enforcement and Governance (FLEG)
Interests Expressed LVBC Theme-3: Economic and infrastructure development EIB to support and co-finance development of maritime transport and communication infrastructure on the lake; JICA to co-fund infrastructure projects especially in ports construction and rehabilitation; AfDB to consider MCSLV project in their next financing cycle in 2014 EU to partner with LVBC on the meteorology project; EleQtra Inc. to collaborate with LVBC in development of maritime transport particularly shipbuilding and port construction
Interests Expressed LVBC Theme- 4: Institutional Development and capacity strengthening Sweden is committed to continue supporting LVBC in this regard WMO offered to support LVBC through Technical Assistance WMO is willing to provide technical assistance for the improvement of meteorological services and collaboration in institutional capacity enhancement China expressed interest in the LVBC HQ construction
