Lunch at theOlde Pink House The Olde Pink House is one of Savannah’s most popular restaurants. Our travelers will begin their trip discovering sophisticated Southern cuisine in the warmth of a true Savannah institution.
Wormsloe Lunch will be followed by a short drive to Isle of Hope, on the outskirts of the city to visit Wormsloe. As we go through the gate we will drive up an impressive oak allee to the privately owned gardens and magnificent library built by Wymberly Jones DeRenne in 1906. This property has remained in the same family since the colonial era.
Saturday, April 28 th Savannah, Georgia
Savannah Historic Downtown In the morning, our guests will enjoy a guided bus tour throughout Savannah’s historic downtown. The tour will include a walk-through of several iconic buildings restored and repurposed by the Savannah College of Arts & Design.
Lunch at Vic’s on the River For lunch, our travelers will be welcomed at Vic’s on the River located in a beautiful old cotton warehouse in Savannah’s Historic River District, overlooking the Savannah River.
Andrew Low & Harper Fowlkes Houses The afternoon will be dedicated to visiting two emblematic historic homes in Savannah: the Andrew Low House & the Harper Fowlkes House. These jewels of preservation both offer extraordinary examples of the diversity in Savannah’s architectural landscape.
Dinner at theOglethorpe Club Our guests will enjoy an exclusive opportunity to dine at the Oglethorpe Club. Since 1870, the Oglethorpe Club has enjoyed a reputation as one of the most prestigious private clubs in the South. Today, the Oglethorpe Club continues to be a dynamic part of Savannah’s rich heritage and vibrant social scene.
Sunday, April 29 th Beaufort, South Carolina
Coffee at the Verdier House Our time in Beaufort will begin with coffee at the Verdier House, an 1800s mansion built by John Mark Verdier, a merchant and plantation owner. The visit includes an introduction to the history of Beaufort by architect Colin Brooker.
Tour of the Bay Street area Guests will have a chance to discover Beaufort’s charming Bay Street and waterfront, full of restaurants, shops and art galleries. The tour will include a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit the iconic privately-owned Thomas Fuller House, which was built circa 1800 and is commonly known as the “Tabby Manse”. The house has a commanding view of the Beaufort River, which is the intracoastal waterway.
Lunch at Dr.Joseph Johnson House This breathtaking privately-owned home will be the setting of our lunch in Beaufort. Nicknamed “The Castle”, The Dr. Joseph Johnson House was built in 1861 in the Italian Renaissance style. Set amid lush gardens of azaleas and camellias, it is one of the most photographed homes in America.
Private Visit of Tidalholm In the afternoon, the magnificent Tidalholm will open its doors to our travelers for a very special behind-the-scenes tour of its ongoing restoration. Tidalholm was built in 1853 and became famous on the big screen through its appearances in films such as “The Big Chill” and “The Great Santini”.
Dinner at the Elizabeth Barnwell-Gough House Guests will enjoy an unforgettable dinner in the privately-owned Elizabeth Barnwell-Gough house, located heart of Beaufort’s historic district. Built in 1789, this architectural gem represents the ingenuity of local builders in adapting the Adam style to available materials such as tabby.
The Brice Hotel Throughout the duration of the program, our guests will stay at The Brice Hotel, formerly a Coca-Cola bottling plant, imbued with the Kimpton brand’s whimsical style. Our travelers will enjoy their cheerful interpretation of Southern hospitality.
