Your career will not be continuously upwardly linear
Your career You may need to take a backward or sideways step to • go forward. Some organisations will support your career • development. Others will not. It is highly likely at some stage you will be made • redundant … though no fault of your own. Today, the average person changes jobs ten to fifteen • times during their career. At the early stage of your career it is usually every 1.5 • to 3 years. You may outgrow your position and need to move on. • Change is continuous. New jobs created. Be adaptable. • Going through a job search process is the only real way • to test your true worth in the market

General career advice All the academic results in world mean nothing unless you can perform at interview and build authentic relationships. Work on all your skills not just academic. Interpersonal and teamwork. Cultural fit is often the main criteria clients hire on. People spend thousands of dollars on education. Studying for hundreds of hours. Working for years to develop skills, gaining experience and knowledge. But so many unfortunately spend no time preparing for interviews. Your education and experience may get you an interview for your dream job. But I see it all too often that great candidates miss out on great opportunities because they fail to prepare. You won’t get a second chance to make a great first impression.
