Curriculum Renewal Process • Survey and Focus Groups (2013) • Revised Curriculum Goals Approved in November: – Increase active/self-directed learning – Improve horizontal and vertical integration – Enhance teaching and assessment of clinical skills – Content areas: health systems, critical evaluation of literature, end of life care, pain management, cultural competency, IPE – Opportunities for electives/research and early clinical experiences/career planning
Curriculum Renewal Process (cont) • Curriculum Renewal Committee: revise structure and pedagogy to best achieve those goals • Curriculum Steering Committee: implementation and outcomes • Meetings with department chairs, departments, faculty assembly, administrative council: desire for more inclusion of course directors • Year 2 Work Group has begun to meet regularly: discuss feasibility and more detailed planning of schematics developed by renewal committee • Year 1 Work Group: will begin meeting soon
