2 The Process ❖ Allows the public to watch the board meetings in real time, or at another time (post meeting) that is more convenient ❖ The recording would capture the speaker(s), along with the presentation ❖ The feed would be broadcast on the internet (via YouTube) ❖ The recordings would be archived, and available through the district website
3 Pros & Cons ❖ Pros ➢ Allows residents who can’t attend the meeting the ability to watch it at a more convenient time ➢ Accurate, factual information will be available to a greater number of residents ❖ Cons ➢ Opportunity for grandstanding by meeting participants
4 Requirements ❖ Need to purchase equipment to record the meetings (~$2,000) ❖ Hire someone (likely a GL student) to record the meetings ❖ Change to Policy 0168 ❖ Broadcasting Platform – YouTube Channel or New Live Stream Account
5 Broadcasting Decision YouTube Channel ❖ Use current YouTube Channel – GLTV ❖ Familiarity with the parent and school community ❖ No cost to use the account
6 Broadcasting Decision Live Stream Account ❖ Establish an account similar to the Township’s account ❖ Cannot share account with the town as there are concerns regarding who owns the recordings and OPRA responsibilities ❖ Account cost – less than $1,000 annually
7 Next Steps If the decision is to record the meetings ❖ Decide on a broadcasting method ❖ Change the policy – set guidelines for archiving and posting the recordings ❖ Purchase the equipment ❖ Engage someone to record the meetings
