  1. Light Regional Council ADAC Implementation

  2. Overview  Drivers for electronic processing  LGA R&D Funded Pilot  Experiences to Date  Challenges for Implementation

  3. Drivers

  4. Drivers 1,000 Lots per year? 30 Lots per year

  5. LGA R&D Funded Pilot Freeling Estate - Stage 7 (33 Allotment Release) • 3744m 2 Road Surface 4262m 2 Road Pavement • • 10 Pram Ramps • 127.4m Spoon Drain 905m Kerb & Gutter • • 825m Footpath 1 Indented Car Park • • 4 Side Entry Pits • 2 Junction Boxes 1 Grated Inlet Pit • • 7 Stormwater Allotment Connections 353m Stormwater Pipe • 6 Sewer Flushing Points • • 24 Sewer Inspection Points 1 Sewer Manhole • • 123m Sewer pipe 1 Roundabout • 3 Splitter Islands • 10 hours to input

  6. LGA R&D Funded Pilot As-Constructed data provided as XML script =

  7. LGA R&D Funded Pilot XML script read into FME to transform data

  8. LGA R&D Funded Pilot Excel Output from FME for Conquest Input VBA script Complicated asset register meant some manual input was still required – macros were developed to assist:

  9. LGA R&D Funded Pilot GIS Output from FME Assets were output as individual MapInfo tab files. Surface and Pavement assets had to be drawn manually due to survey data incompatibility at the roundabout.

  10. LGA R&D Funded Pilot GIS Output from FME Manually drawn GIS vs. ADAC GIS output

  11. Experiences to Date XML script – some modifications (errors/omissions)  FME – changes to match output requirements & resolve errors  Excel VBA – macros developed to auto-fill from manual input  Missing Assets & Fields – surfaces, pavement, kerbing & footpaths  Runtimes: ADAC Manual FME = 16.4 seconds Conquest + MapInfo Input = 10 hours Excel input + VBA = 15 minutes Manual input of missing assets = 3 hours Upload to Conquest = 10 minutes Savings = Approx. 6 hours 30 minutes for 33 allotments

  12. Challenges for Implementation  Showing benefits to developers (faster Council processing = $)  Upskilling required in all phases:  Superintendent & Surveyor to produce good XML  Council staff in managing FME and excel script  Asset Register currently not well aligned to ADAC  Less visual verification / potentially more difficult to spot errors
