LGA R&D Funded Pilot XML script read into FME to transform data

LGA R&D Funded Pilot Excel Output from FME for Conquest Input VBA script Complicated asset register meant some manual input was still required – macros were developed to assist:

LGA R&D Funded Pilot GIS Output from FME Assets were output as individual MapInfo tab files. Surface and Pavement assets had to be drawn manually due to survey data incompatibility at the roundabout.

Experiences to Date XML script – some modifications (errors/omissions)  FME – changes to match output requirements & resolve errors  Excel VBA – macros developed to auto-fill from manual input  Missing Assets & Fields – surfaces, pavement, kerbing & footpaths  Runtimes: ADAC Manual FME = 16.4 seconds Conquest + MapInfo Input = 10 hours Excel input + VBA = 15 minutes Manual input of missing assets = 3 hours Upload to Conquest = 10 minutes Savings = Approx. 6 hours 30 minutes for 33 allotments

Challenges for Implementation  Showing benefits to developers (faster Council processing = $)  Upskilling required in all phases:  Superintendent & Surveyor to produce good XML  Council staff in managing FME and excel script  Asset Register currently not well aligned to ADAC  Less visual verification / potentially more difficult to spot errors
