Project objectives To demonstrate the economic and environmental viability of a new business model for agricultural cooperatives, integrating energy savings and the generation of renewable energies and biomass production. a) Significant energy savings Generate savings in energy consumption and reduction of CO 2 emissions by: Lowering participating Lowering the cooperative’s Lowering the cooperative’s farmers ’ electricity bills by environmental footprint by electricity bill by 20% 50% 10% b) Use of renewable sources Substitution of required energy through local and renewable sources by: Bio-energy crops for conversion to biofuel Organic waste to produce thermal power for boilers Rural Smart Grid promoting energy efficiency
