Early Ideas for Guiding Principles Collaboration Accessible Equitable Sustainable
Guiding Principles and Values Activity Purpose • In small groups, identify key values and develop three (3) guiding principle statements or concepts that you feel should be reflected in the guiding principles for the 5-Year Transportation Plan. Format • Break into small groups (~4 people each) • Select a notetaker to capture your discussion • Write your values/guiding principles statements on a flip chart • At the conclusion of the small group discussion, place your flip chart notes on the wall • The facility will reconvene the large group to share and discuss ideas
Guiding Principles and Values Activity Definitions • Value – One’s judgement of what is important in life (e.g. “I want to be able to get around Snoqualmie Valley affordably.” • Guid uiding ing Pr Princ incipl iple – High-level values statements that will guide development of the 5-Year Transportation Plan (e.g. “Develop transportation services that are affordable to all users.”) Key Questions • What values do you feel this Plan should strive to promote or achieve? • Based on the values identified by your group, what are three (3) potential guiding principles for the 5-Year Transportation Plan?
