Impact – Conduct and Competence • Serious misconduct cases will go straight to the Disciplinary Tribunal • Mandatory reporting extended to include fixed term positions Penalty for non-reporting in relation to any matter • of conduct increased from $5k to $25k Council can take action without relying on a third • party complaint

  9. Vulnerable Children Act • People with ‘specified offences’ under the Vulnerable Children Act will not able to teach unless they get an exemption from the Ministry of Social Development • Vulnerable Children Act also introduces new proof of identity requirements
