Age 11 Child Consent At age11 MCS formalised the consent process for children for first time. Parents' asked for written consent to approach child to give their own permission to take part in all child elements. Verbal consent from cohort child for: • cognitive assessments • physical measurements • self completion questionnaire • to approach class teacher for teacher survey Centre for Longitudinal Studies | www.cls.ioe.ac.uk

MCS6 Designing a survey for teenagers • Recontact exercise (Pre MCS6) participant pack sent to young people only a letter – including a pop-out membership card. a booklet – providing information about the study, the impact of the study and how findings have been used, what the study covers, what happens to the data collected and information about the CNC team.
