Project Overview 4  Project Objectives:  Assess the progress of the AB 109 implementation plan, and determine program outcomes for the County’s realigned population  Make recommendations about the longterm evaluation of the AB109 program  Project Timeline  August 2012 to February 2013  Evaluation Design and Policy Research and Data Analysis Workgroup: Steering Committee: o Kathy Sanchez, ISD/CJIC  Javier Aguirre, Office of the County Executive o Neelam Wadhwani, Sheriff/ Department of Corrections  Fran Palacio, Office of the County Executive o Anthony Holguin, Mental Health Department  Joseph Mensah, Probation  Kakoli Banerjee, DADS

Interim Evaluation 5  Evaluation questions:  To what extent has the program been implemented as planned?  To what extent have AB109 offenders improved outcomes, particularly recidivism?  What are the results and lessons of Year 1?  Activities  Develop evaluation plan and logic model  Conduct interviews with service providers and AB109 and 1170(h) offenders  Analyze client-level data (e.g., units of service, outcomes, etc).

Options for Long-term Evaluation 6  Key questions  What are SCC ’ s evaluation priorities?  How are similar counties implementing their AB109 programs?  What is SCC ’ s data capacity?  What are SCC ’ s data needs?  What are the options for long-term evaluation of AB109 implementation?  Activities  Interviews and surveys  IT site visit
