TRANSFER REQUIREMENTS TO THE UNIVERSITY • Types of Transfers: • Lower division transfers: less than 60 semester transferable units • Upper division transfer: at least 60 transferable units and completion of the “golden four” English Composition (A2) • Communications (A1) • Critical Thinking (A3) • Mathematics (B4) • *CSUB requires incoming transfers to meet the upper division transfer requirements for admissions to the University. Meet with your college advisor/counselor to see that you are upper division transfer ready. *Second baccalaureate applicants are not considered transfers. They’re not required to complete GEs but must have a minimum Overall or Last 60 Units GPA of 2.50 at the time of application.

  5. 8 PREREQUISITES Prerequisites must be complete prior to entering the BSN program. Science and Statistics must be done in the last 10 years * A grade of a “C” or higher is needed (A “C - ” is not acceptable)

  6. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • 3.00 GPA in 8 prerequisites • 3.00 GPA in science & math GPA • Again: must be done w/in the last 10 yrs. • Anatomy • Physiology • Chemistry • Microbiology • Statistics

ATI TEAS TEST • ATI TEAS (VI) • Multiple Choice • Timed • Science, Reading, Mathematics, English Language/Usage • 70% minimum • First 2 attempts ; take the highest score • 60-day grace period between 1 st and 2 nd attempts • This includes multiple testing sites/locations • Study manual and practice assessments available at www.atitesting.com

COGNATES • Intro/General Psychology • Intro to Sociology or Cultural Anthropology • Nutrition • Lifespan Development (conception to death) • Pathophysiology-offered in the Fall terms only at CSUB • Pathophysiology from other campuses must be reviewed and approved by the Department of Nursing *Cognates can be take prior to or during the BSN program. A grade of a “C” or higher is needed (A “C - ” is not acceptable)

  11. ACADEMIC PROGRESSION POLICIES

  12. PROGRESSION (FAILURE) POLICY • Must not earn less than a “C” twice in the same prerequisite or cognate course requirement • A minimum of a “C” is required in prerequisites and cognates. However, receiving mostly “Cs” in prerequisites will not be competitive • No grade forgiveness on course(s) where less than a “C” was earned

  13. REPEAT POLICY • 2 repeats allowed in the prerequisites • 1 science • 1 non-science • Cognate repeats • The number of cognate course repeats has no limit • Must be passed on the 2 nd attempt

  14. WITHDRAW POLICY • Must not exceed more than 19 semesters/28 quarter units worth of course “W’s” • Considers all coursework — not just nursing related • A Complete withdrawal from a term is forgiven • “W’s” that occurred 5 or more years prior to applying are forgiven • A “W” in a prerequisite or cognate will not be considered a repeat

TRANSFER NURSING STUDENT • A nursing transfer student is a student that was previously enrolled in an Registered Nursing program, but did not complete program • Resources are not available to provide additional orientation and sections required to serve continuing transfer nursing students • Letter of good standing from previous nursing program Chair/Director • Typed letter addressed to the Nursing Dept. Undergraduate Programs Committee (UPC) requesting permission to apply as a new applicant

  16. RESERVED SEATS • 2 seats reserved for military veterans each year • GPA requirement in prereqs: 3.00 • TEAS= 75% • If minimum requirements are not met, the candidate can decide if they want to compete with the general pool of applicants • Alternative Military Credit

ARTICULATION OF COURSES • Articulation/Equivalency • www.assist.org for a list of courses from your college that will transfer to meet specific major requirements • Articulation chart available on CSUB Nursing website • If unsure, send catalog copy of course description and syllabus for further review to pre-nursing advisor at edeleon3@csub.edu

  19. BSN REQUIREMENTS • Total of 120-123 units • For full curriculum review and GE, please visit the CSUB Catalog • If transferring, a CSU GE Certification is recommended (not required for second post-bacc)

  20. 2 ND DEGREE • Seeking 2 nd bachelor’s degree in nursing • Only take courses required for nursing • Prerequisites • Cognates • 3-year Nursing Program • GE is already complete through first degree • Complete ‘graduate application’ indicating second bachelor’s

  21. SECOND BACHELOR’S ON CSU APPLY • On CSU Apply, use the graduate application with the option of “seeking second bachelor’s degree” • Do not choose Masters Degree in Nursing • Do not use Undergraduate Application

Fee waiver available for qualifying applicants • CSUB ID# will be provided upon applying • Login instructions for My CSUB • Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended, AP Test Sores • to: CSU Bakersfield Office of Admissions and Records 9001 Stockdale Highway Bakersfield, CA 93311-1022 View Admissions status and “To - Do” list in My CSUB • If offered admission to the university, accept admissions in my CSUB • Confirm Intent to enroll (Usually by May 1 st ) and submit $100 non-refundable • deposit that can be applied towards registration fees Intent to enroll is separate fee from the New Student Orientation • ACCEPTANCE TO THE UNIVERSITY IS MADE BY THE OFFICE OF ADMISSIONS AND • RECORDS
