  4. Cambridge at Bradley  Bradley Middle School is embracing a whole school model for Cambridge. Teachers plan together and are provided professional development so strategies are embedded into all classroom settings.  We still have students that are on the Cambridge path.  Students currently in Cambridge at an Elementary Feeder School will automatically be placed in a Cambridge class.  The deadline has passed for new students to apply for next year. Letters will hopefully be mailed by the end of this week for notification.  For specific Cambridge questions, please contact Moninda Eslick, our Cambridge Coordinator.

  20. 6 th Grade Band • Year Long Elective Course- You are committing to at least one entire year of band. • Beginning Band Instruments are the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and trombone • After one successful semester on your beginning band instrument, you can apply for a “specialty” instrument- Oboe, Bassoon, Bass Clarinet, Tenor or Baritone Saxophone, French Horn, Baritone, Tuba or Percussion

  21. 6 th Grade Band • Sixth Grade is the ONLY TIME you can start band in CMS Schools!!!! Don’t miss out!!! • Instrument selection night, time that you can try out all of the beginning band instruments will be • Wednesday, March 7 th from 4:30- 7:30 PM • Monday, March 19 th from 4:30- 7:30 PM • NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY!!! I will teach you everything you need to know!!

  22. Orchestra • This course provides beginning instruction in playing: • Violin • Viola • Cello • Bass • Level I performance standards for orchestra are achieved. • Orchestra instruments may be leased or purchased from local music dealers.

AVID Elective ● A college and career preparatory system. ● Geared towards students who are capable of being honors or Cambridge students but aren’t reaching their academic potential ● Cover topics such as: ○ Organization ○ Time Management ○ Study Skills ○ Note Taking ○ College & Career Planning ● A year-long commitment ● AVID is not a program for unmotivated students. They must have INDIVIDUAL DETERMINATION!

  24. What is the AVID elective according to current AVID students... “The AVID elective prepares you for things after middle school like highschool and college. AVID teaches you time management and also organization with your binder and agenda.” “AVID is a class that helps your well being for all your classes, not just AVID” “In AVID you need to be prepared for work and challenges. This class will help you with many things for the future, as it did for me.” “AVID is an amazing class to take if you want to be successful. When I first heard of AVID I was not expecting much, but now that I am in the class I feel like I am so prepared for what comes next.”

  25. Semester Course Options

  26. Chorus 6  Students learn beginning singing techniques within an ensemble setting.  Singing experiences will be provided for all students with special instruction for those with changing voices.  In addition to music skills, students will demonstrate skills of cooperation, and learn to compromise and be team players.  Students in this class will also participate in a performance at the end of the semester.

Dance 6 • This course builds on individual skills with an emphasis on students’ personal expression in relationship to the world around them. • Students improve their dance technique, use dance to communicate, manipulate the elements of dance, and develop more complex choreographic forms. • Students in this class will also participate in a performance at the end of the semester.

  29. Exploratory Spanish 6 th Grade  This course provides an introduction to Spanish with an emphasis on basic communication and cultural concepts.  This course provides a semester exposure to Spanish. Completion of exploratory courses does not meet the requirements for completion of all or part of level l of a world language.
