COVID-19 - How does it spread? ▪ COVID-19 spreads from person to person through droplet transmission ▪ Droplets are small pieces of saliva, which are produced when a person coughs or sneezes ▪ Droplets usually travel no further than one metre through the air ▪ Droplets cannot go through skin and can only lead to infection if they touch your mouth, nose or eyes You can become infected if: ▪ You have close contact with an infected person who coughs or sneezes ▪ You touch an object (e.g. door handle or tap) contaminated from a cough or sneeze from a person with COVID-19 and touch your eyes, nose or mouth

COVID-19 – Washing your Hands ▪ The most important thing you can do to protect yourself is to wash your hands regularly with soap and water or rubbing an alcohol-based sanitiser onto your hands ▪ This is important because washing your hands kills viruses ▪ Watch these videos to see how you wash your hands and this video to show you how to use hand sanitiser ▪ Put up signs to remind people to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer and ensure that hand washing stations and/or hand sanitizer is available in all communal facilities and throughout your business ▪ Hand rub https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnSjFr6J9HI ▪ Hand wash https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PmVJQUCm4E

COVID-19 – Social Distancing ▪ Maintain at least 1.5 metres social distance between yourself and others ▪ This is important because if you are too close to someone you might breathe in droplets they cough or sneeze ▪ Promote this through information on arrival for guests and signs throughout your business and to your employees ▪ Lead by example
COVID-19 – Social Distancing ▪ Ensure the one person per 4m 2 rule applies in all communal facilities ▪ Promote this through information on arrival for guests and signs throughout your business and to your employees ▪ Lead by example
COVID-19 – Good Respiratory Hygiene ▪ Make sure all who visit your business follow good respiratory hygiene ▪ Promote this through information provided on arrival for guests and signs throughout your business and to your employees ▪ Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze and use a tissue and dispose of it straight away ▪ Use your bent elbow ▪ Respiratory hygiene is important because droplets spread the virus
COVID-19 – Increased Cleaning Regime ▪ Communal facilities must be kept clean and hygienic. Frequently touched surfaces, such as kitchens, bathrooms, door handles and light switches must be routinely cleaned to reduce contamination. ▪ Cleaning supplies, liquid soap, running water, alcohol-based hand rub, paper towel or hand dryers are to be provided at entrances/exits to all communal facilities. ▪ This is because droplets from an infected person can fall on a surface and be transferred to someone else’s hands if they touch the surface. ▪ Hand washing facilities must be adequately stocked with liquid soap and paper towel or hand dryers and these are kept clean and in good working order. ▪ All roofed accommodation will be thoroughly cleaned between change-over of guests. ▪ Records of cleaning activity must be kept.

▪
