  1. & Inclusivity, Inc. from ideation to product production. Collaboration with the Rochester Institute of Technology and other community partners to make this Dream a Reality!

  2. The Need for More… Inclusive equipment and opportunities in our schools ● Since 2005, the number of students aged 3-21 who received special education services has increased from 4.7 million to over 6.7 million in 2015-16, (13 percent of the total public school enrollment) and is steadily increasing. ● Individuals with unique abilities are missing out due to the lack of inclusive sports equipment available. ● Research indicates that individuals with special needs are 4 times less likely to engage in daily physical activity than typically developing peers. ● This can lead to increased risk of weight gain, low self-esteem, other health concerns and social isolation.

  3. What Can I Do…? ● Like thousands of educators across the country, I did the best I could adapting equipment using Velcro, tape, foam noodles, etc… to include my students in physical education. ● I started designing my own equipment with the dream of production to reach individuals around the world. ● Parents and community members showed overwhelming support and connected me with the Rochester Institute of Technology.

  4. Collaboration that IS Making a Difference! ● Our collaboration with The Rochester Institute of Technology has been growing and deepening over the past 3 years. ● RIT has provided a vast amount of expertise and resources which allowed me to take my rough prototypes and concepts to a whole new level! ● Inclusivity, Inc. has greatly benefited from the efforts of the; Multidisciplinary Senior Design, Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology, Graphic Design and Saunders School of Business departments ● Mutual benefits of students working on “real world” projects where students work closely with the end users and see children using their designs, while helping a business make steps forward.

In Isaac’s PE class he played the same games as others, and even became a favored participant because of his cool equipment.” Sherri C. , parent “The technology you have developed has taken the concept of inclusion to a reality for many people and fosters an individual to use the abilities that they do have to participate in sporting events that will build coordination and empower their confidence.” Toni C., Dutchess County Deputy Commissioner for Special Needs “Watching wheelchair bound athletes actually hit a ball with zero or very little assistance was truly remarkable! While this may seem trivial to some people, it is a life changing experience. Striving for independence is every parent’s dream for their child, and the Overcomer helps accomplish this. The smiles are endless.” Ron K., President of Miracle Field of Greater Rochester “ The look of joy and pride on my son’s face as he was able to swing a bat to hit a ball for the first time in his life is just something that cannot be put into words. It literally brought tears to my eyes to see my little boy so happy that he could do something that, prior to him using the Overcomer Series Striker device, he could only watch other children do.” Jim D., parent “ When we saw the pieces in use, it brought tears to my eyes. Joe's heart for children and for physical fitness shows in every aspect of his design.” Jamie N. parent
