Who Is Jesus, Exactly? Hebrews 1:1-14
Who Jesus Is... He is God in the flesh, the exact representation of God.
Hebrews 1:3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being.
John 14:8-9 (CEV) “Lord, show us the Father. That is all we need.” Jesus replied, “Philip, I have been with you for a long time. Don’t you know who I am? If you have seen me, you have seen the Father.”
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Hebrews 1:8 But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, lasts for ever and ever.”
What Jesus has done... a. He created the world.
Hebrews 1:2 ...in these last days God has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.
Hebrews 1:10 “In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.”
Colossians 1:15-16 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.
John 1:3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
What Jesus has done... a. He created the world. b. He paid the price for our sins.
Ephesians 1:7 (CEV) Christ sacrificed his life’s blood to set us free, which means our sins are now forgiven.
What Jesus has done... a. He created the world. b. He paid the price for our sins. c. He has done all he set out to do.
Hebrews 1:2 After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
Hebrews 7:25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
What the Old Testament says about Jesus the Messiah.
Hebrews 1:5 “You are my Son, today I have become your Father.” (quoting Psalm 2:7)
Hebrews 1:5 “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son.” (quoting 2 Samuel 7:14)
Hebrews 1:6 “Let all God’s angels worship him.” (quoting Deuteronomy 34:23 in the LXX)
Hebrews 1:8 About the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” (quoting Psalm 45)
Hebrews 1:6 “You remain the same, and your years will never end.” (quoting Psalm 102)
Jesus is supreme. He is above the prophets, the angels, and all creation. Because He is Lord of all, he is all you will ever need.
