Travel Details Depart: Sunday 12 th February 2017 • 05.30hrs Please arrive at Manchester (Terminal 1) Airport. • 07.05hrs Baggage drop and check-in closes. • 07.45hrs Flight departs for Rekykjavik (Keflavik) (EZY1805) • 10.35hrs Arrival in Iceland, baggage collection and board coach • PM Reykjavik sightseeing tour Group transfer to Hotel Örk • PM • PM Evening Meal at the hotel

Check in at Hlemmur Square Hostel • 19.00hrs Evening meal at the hostel • 20.00hrs Remainder of evening at leisure

  16. The weather in Iceland is highly changeable and conditions can change in a short time. Groups should prepare for rain, wind and even snow.   17. • Each person can have 20kg of hold luggage. • Each day you may be travelling into areas of differing weather so it is essential that students prepare for all weathers. Much of the time, students will be in close proximity to ice or water. Spare footwear and waterproof clothing is essential. • Sturdy walking boots/trainers with firm grip – must be water resistant. Essential • More than one set of outdoor footwear (spare pair to be left on coach each day) • Warm waterproof/wind resistant jacket

  18. • Trousers – not denim. More than one set to allow for layering and drying of wet clothes • Water and wind proof over-trousers (can use salopettes) • Thermal underwear (long legged and sleeved) • Long sleeved tops – to allow for layering (the weather can be extremely changeable) • Thick, warm socks – ideally wool (spare pair to carry in day pack) • Warm gloves • Scarf/turtle fur/snood • Hat/balaclava

  19. • Swimsuit for Secret Lagoon • Large towel for Secret Lagoon • Small rucksack • Energy bars/snacks (Food is extremely expensive in Iceland) • Torch • Sunglasses • Sun protection • Water bottle • Plastic bags for wet items • Socket chargers (2 rounded pins)

  20. You may bring:- • Books, card /travel games etc. for the journey. • Food and drink (Money for drink etc. at the airports). Please note there still remains a limit on the liquids that can be taken through security - containers must hold no more than 100ml with a total limit of 1 litre. • containers must be in a single, transparent, resealable plastic bag, which holds no more than a litre and measures approximately 20cm x 20cm • If unsure please refer to https://www.gov.uk/hand- luggage-restrictions/overview

Meals provided:- • All breakfasts at hotel • Packed lunches provided by the hotel • All evening meals at hotel DRINKS ARE NOT INCLUDED AT THE HOTEL (except fruit juice or hot drinks at breakfast) Soft drinks with evening meals will be charged. It is about 350 krona for ½ litre drink in cooler machine in reception and at evening dinners. Tap water is safe to drink in Iceland.

  24. • All activities are covered by original payment . • 330 ml bottled water (200kr), 330 ml Coke (300kr) • Souvenirs. • Table tennis and pool tables in the hotel. • Mr Boylan will be charge of the banking system to track pupil’s spending money. • The current exchange rate (as of 13/12/16) is £1 = 142 Krona Parents may wish to put this in separate marked envelopes to be allocated each day.   26. • We need to have an agreed system in place to ensure all members of the group are in the right place at the right time. THERE CAN BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS. • Pupils will be expected to stay in groups of a minimum of 3 at all times.

  27. • All pupils will be asked to read and sign a code of conduct. • Always adhere to staff instructions at all times. • Be sensible and quiet in the hotel and during visits. Be respectful to other guests and visitors. • Be in own rooms no later than 10pm. No silly behaviour after this time. • Keep rooms tidy at all times and ensure they are spotless on leaving. • No illegal substances including alcohol or cigarettes. • No abusive or offensive language at any time. • Show respect at all times to locals, their culture and their history. • Remember that you are representing Holy Cross at all times and should behave in a manner representative of the school standards.
