HOW TO PROMOTE PROJECTS/PROCESSES IN EUROPEAN CITIES? 1-Europan as an European professional network promotes a debate on strategic themes through the competitions’ ideas, the experts proposals and the cities reflections around the adaptation of the European urban territories to big climatic, environmental and societal changes but also around values as urbanity, quality of public spaces, mixity of programs, intensity of living, through interconnections. It can be seen as recurrent themes in European cities’ history but they have to be re-developed in a contemporary sustainable approach. . 2- Europan tries to initiate also concrete experimentations starting from the energy and the ideas of the young generation of professional in urban project (landscapers, urbanists, architects..) by putting them in connection with a lot of partners or public or private : municipalities, metropoles, regions, states and even sometimes European bodies, but also clients, developers, makers, users… 3- The role of Europan is not to develop an official policy on what could be the “European City of the Future”… but to initiate - at multi scales and with multi actors - in existing architectural or urban policies on the move, a set of experimental proposals of transformations of very diverse urban situations in European cities. The role of Europan is more transgressive than normative by creating inter-connections - in a trans-local approach - between people, spaces, programs, processes, procedures in Europe associated to a philosophy (not a doctrine!) about the new ways to inhabit the city.
