Archipelago is a new open source repository architecture whose first release is based on our experience with all of the other systems out there.
Archipelago is a new open source repository architecture whose first release is based on our experience with all of the other systems out there. Some examples of concepts / functionality found in other projects: ● Like Invenio, we handle metadata as JSON, though a little differently. ● Like Islandora, we use Drupal, though we do so a little differently. ● Like ISLE, we have a simple, dockerized deployment strategy ● Like Fedora 6, we are using the Oxford Common File System, though a little differently to work with S3 / min.io ● Like Samvera, we plan for a single architecture with many ‘heads’, though we may segment them a little differently (more on this later)

DCMNY is where this all began.
This is the primary use case we are looking to solve.
But Archipelago can support many uses cases.
So, over the course of the next 3 years, we will rebuild METRO’s consortial repository service from the ground up.
