Why do we exist? There has been unprecedented change in world of young people since 2012 with austerity and the rise of technology • There 12 million YP in UK aged 11-25. • 1 in 10 feel don’t know anyone who really cares about them (Prince Trust 2017) • Youth unemployment is three times higher than other age groups (ONS Labour Market Stats Oct 2015) • £600m pa withdrawn from youth services (NYA Cuts Watch 2017) • 1 in 4 suffer from anxiety and depression (NHS Digital 2018) • UK has the highest rate of self-harm in Europe with 400 in 100,000 affected (Univ of Leeds, MHF) • 590 suicides among under 25s in 2017 (ONS 2018)
We are The Mix The Mix listens, answers questions and makes connections for under 25s. We provide free, anonymous help on everything in the young person’s life with a particular focus on supporting mental health. OUR PURPOSE The Mix helps young people to challenge the things that stop them thriving in their lives.

What we do The Mix works through the digital, social and mobile channels used by young people Helpline – A Freephone telephone & web chat Expert information - Over 2,000 articles and videos helpline open from 4pm to 11pm offering developed with young people and experts listening support and onward access to specialist services. Telephone counselling service – A free Group chat - A nightly moderated live chat groups telephone counselling service offering eight where young people receive support from their peers. sessions to support psychological wellbeing of young people Training and volunteering – accredited training Peer community – An online moderated peer and digital social action opportunities community designed to help young people to work through issues and support resilience. Crisis messenger – 24 hour support for crisis and wellbeing via text.

Our Impact We have 4 million unique users worldwide: 3 million were young people under 25 in the UK. Positive change • 84% said they would make a positive change as a result of visiting our digital services. • 75% contacted the services recommended by our helpline. Reach • Unique users of our digital services grew by 33% over the last 12 months. • There has been a 47% rise in those seeking help with mental health issues. Recommendation • 94% of young people said they would visit our digital services again. • 96% said they would refer a friend to The Mix.
