Our Program • Health Canada's Consumer Product Safety Program gets its regulatory authority from the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA) and the Food and Drugs Act (Cosmetic Regulations) • The Program’s objective in administering and enforcing these Acts and their regulations is to reduce adverse health incidents related to consumer products and cosmetics for all Canadians. Our Mission • To identify, assess, manage and communicate health or safety risks to Canadians, associated with consumer products and cosmetics.
What We Do The Consumer Product Safety Program (CPSP) conducts a wide range of activities. This includes: • Surveillance • Risk assessment and management • Support for developing safety standards and guidelines • Providing guidance to industry • Providing importers, manufacturers and distributors with hazard and technical information • Testing • Promoting safe selection and use of products to consumers • Publishing Consumer Products Alerts and Recalls • Coordinating international activities related to consumer product safety • Regulatory development 5
