Hajj is mandatory… • Once in a lifetime upon the one who satisfies the following 7 conditions

مارحإ • The state that you must enter prior to going into the sacred boundary of Makkah for Umrah or Hajj • While you are in this state, certain acts become haram-hence the term ihram • Literally, “to make haram”

How do I wear it?

Talbiyah • Once is wajib • Recitation of the talbiyah with an intention to enter ihram begins the state of Ihram

Tips for Tawaf • If you have women with you, remain outside for all 7 circuits (Pushing, shoving) • Don’t walk against the flow of people • No set dua to be recited
Sa’ee • “To run” • Going between Safa and Marwa 7 times • With your back facing the Maqam Ibrahim, Safa is located to your right.
Istilam • Recommended to return to the general area of Hajar ul Aswad and perform Istilam before beginning sa’ee
Wudu • Not required

Intention • Perform 7 rounds of sa’ee between Safa and Marwah • Can be made in any language • مهللاينإديرأيعسلانيبافصلاةورملاوةعبسطاوشأللوزعلجو هرسيفيلهلّبقتويّنم

Shaving/Cutting • Cutting or shaving one’s head is required after Hajj or Umrah to release an individual from the state of Ihram • Men - Shaving > trimming • Women - Trimming
Method for men • Shave entire head • Trim at least 1.5 inches from each hair • Already bald?
Method for women • Must trim 1.5 inches from each area of the head • Divide hair into 3 sections • Legal ruling: Umrah = all injunctions of Ihram are lifted • Legal ruling: Hajj = all injunctions of Ihram are lifted except the prohibition of romance (Tawaf Ziyarah)

Day 2: 9th Dhul Hijjah Muzdalifah • Spending the night in Muzdalifah
Day 3: 10th Dhul Hijjah Wuquf of Muzdalifah • Perform Fajr at the beginning of its time • Dhikr until sunrise (Wuquf) • Legal ruling - Wajib • Go back to ?
Day 3: 10th Dhul Hijjah Back to Mina • Before sunrise, go back to Mina • 4 responsibilities in Mina • 1 ) Going to the Jamarāt to pelt the large Shaytān • 2) Sacrificing an animal • 3) Shaving the head or cutting the hair • 4 ) Performing Tawāf Ziyārah with sa’ee
Day 3: 10th Dhul Hijjah Heading towards the Jamarāt • Pelting can be anytime after the beginning of Fajr on the 10th day until right before the beginning of the time of Fajr of the 11th • After sunrise till the time of Dhur enters (Sunnah) • Makruh (disliked) to delay it until after Maghrib • Old people + women = After Asr • 30-50 minute walk each way
Day 3: 10th Dhul Hijjah Pelting the large Shaytān • 3 large walls • Pelt only the large Shaytān • Throw 7 pebbles, one at a time • With the throwing of the first pebble, talbiyah of Hajj ends.
