Haddon Township Schools Budget as of 18 August 2016 At this time, approximately $514K over budget • How did this occur? • Referendum time line- started 2011 / construction occurred in 2015 & 2016 • Estimates did include escalation; however, once the budget was complete, approvals were stalled at NJSDA for approximately 1.5 years • Construction economy became less competitive in 2015 & 2016 due to other referendums being bid at the same time • What are we doing to reduce the budget over-run? • Strategized 6 separate bid packages in an effort to increase competition and maximize efficiencies • Review the fixed furnishings and equipment (desks, chairs, tables, etc.) to determine what is exactly needed and purchase over time • Review the remaining site work improvements 11
Haddon Township Schools CONCLUSION • THE CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE IS A 2 YEAR ENDEAVOR • THE SAFETY OF THE STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF ARE PARAMOUNT • ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2016 THE STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF WILL RETURN TO A SAFE AND SECURE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT • THE REMAINING WORK WILL BE PERFORMED IN A CONTROLLED MANNER TO PROTECT THE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF ALL AND NOT DISRUPT THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT QUESTIONS ? 12
