  14. • BenefitsMN plans, based on Medica’s Large Group plans , were previously filed with the State Dept. of Commerce • Most small groups (under 50 employees) will see better rates through BenefitsMN than Small Group Market • Rates are in five-year age bands • Employers are required to contribute 50% of the lowest offered plan premiums, for each employee • The only way to see the rates is to submit the required information

  16. • Current Minnesota Council of Nonprofits member organization HQ in Minnesota with any (c) nonprofit status • Must have been an MCN member for minimum 30 days (state law) • Must have at least two benefits eligible employees • Can join BenefitsMN during calendar 2020 for a short plan year • BenefitsMN renewals will be on a calendar year

  17. • MCN member renewals will be synched to the calendar year for participating organizations • The nonprofit employer sets eligibility threshold for their employees at 20, 25 or 30 hours per week • Not all of those eligible employees must participate in the plan; there is a waiver form that they can fill out • Domestic partners, spouses, and dependents of participating employees can get coverage

  20. • Nonprofits will need to submit information about current employees, whether or not the organization currently offers medical insurance. • Employers that offer insurance will need to provide current rate and plan information for all participating members • Employers that do not currently offer insurance will need to submit health histories for all eligible employees

  21. Timeline

  22. • Once Medica has complete census information, they will provide a proposal with prices within 10 business days . • Gallagher will set up a meeting time to review and discuss options • In order to have coverage in place by 1/1/2020, the organization will need to enroll by Friday December 13, 2019 . • Those who enroll after 12/6 but before 12/13, will receive an electronic version of the ID card which can be used until the mailed copy is received.
