  2. Overview All survey activity has been completed for 2019. • Cooperative research funds were used to conduct a • comparison of observation methods in untrawlable habitat, in the past few weeks, off S. Oregon. New/updated salmon bycatch #s. • Page 2 U.S. Department of Commerce | National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration | National Marine Fisheries Service

  3. Observed and expanded salmon bycatch, 2002-2018 Chinook Chinook • Chinook bycatch in the hake fishery has been volatile, with a high in 2014. In 2017 and 2018, bycatch was higher than the preceding two years, but within the range of bycatch values 2011-2016. • Non-catch shares (NCS) bycatch has been minimal across all years. Coho Coho • Coho bycatch is typically an order of magnitude lower than Chinook bycatch, but does show strong inter- annual variability. • Bycatch in the NCS and shoreside non-hake fisheries has remained at moderate levels across all years. • Hake = At-sea catcher processors, at-sea mothership catcher-vessels, shoreside processors • NCS = Non-catch shares: EFPs, sablefish primary, nearshore, OA CA halibut, pink shrimp, OA H & L • SS Non-hake = Shoreside LE & CS bottom trawl, CS fixed gear, CS midwater rockfish, LE CA halibut
