  4. THE RESPONSE METHOD THE CURRENT METHOD

  5. The Current System (2015/16) During the Year, Grant Students buy individual Applications are submitted Memberships for each to the Student Activities Society Team The Societies Guild review and agree funding Projects Events and Resources The money is allocated into the Society’s budget

  6. THE ESTIMATED METHOD RECOMMEDATION A

Recommendation [A] Annual Grant Applications Students purchase Societies are submitted by Societies Guild Memberships (£10) which were “Estimated” Previously These Applications are used as evidence to establish estimated “Annual Grants” Allocations are reviewed whilst Members purchase “Societies Guild The money for these “Annual Memberships” Grants” is sourced from estimated Societies Guild Memberships

  8. Recommendation [A] Where Does The Money Come From? Central Union Grant Budget Allocations are Drafted Term Starts Societies Guild Membership Allocations are Reviewed Money that will be allocated to Societies during Term One

Recommendation [A] What does a “Societies Guild Membership” do? 3,551 Students were a member of a Society in 2016 (19/10/2016) If all those members paid an required £10 for a Societies Guild Membership – Which gave them access to all of our Societies, that would generate….. £35,510 To Support Societies at the Union of Brunel Students

Recommendation [B] • Annual Grant Applications Annual Grant – 65% • are submitted by New and Start Up Funding – 10% • Old Committees ADF – 25% Deadline for Annual Grant Applications Students purchase Societies Guild Memberships (£10) Grant Allocations are made from the Union Budget These are allocated depending on how many Societies that student joins

Recommendation [D] The Exceptions Students would not pay the Societies Guild Membership if they joined these Societies Political, Campaigning and Causes Faith, Belief and Worldview Christian Union, Islamic Society, Kairos, Jewish Society LGBT, Feminist Academic Societies Students would not pay the Societies Guild Membership if they’re Academic School had supported them with a Sponsorship Engineers Without Borders, ElectroniCO, Psychology
