Exercise Science for Clinicians Graduate Certificate • This certificate bridges the knowledge gap between the medical field and the exercise field to promote the benefits of exercise for disease prevention and therapeutic intervention for their patients with chronic diseases. • This certificate provides graduate professional experience through course work and experiential learning opportunities. Students develop well-rounded knowledge of the role of physical activity and exercise on health and disease prevention/intervention. • Coursework covers knowledge of exercise physiology and exercise testing, assessment and prescription, all of which are major domains of job tasks for a Clinical Exercise Physiologist required by the American College of Sports Medicine.

Exercise Science MS/MPH This dual degree program allows qualified students to achieve their goal of obtaining a more robust understanding of public health through an MPH degree while also completing their MS in Exercise Science. Graduates of the program will benefit from having a greater understanding of public health issues in the fields of exercise and physical activity in order to better design exercise prescription programs in the healthcare industry that aim to improve the health of individuals and communities.
MS/MPH Curriculum The curriculum components meet the Council on Education in Public Health PUBLIC HEALTH Biostatistics in Public 9 courses, 27 credits Environmental Health CORE Health (CEPH) accreditation requirements and key competencies for a degree in exercise Physical Activity and science recommended by the American Exercise: Public Health Introduction to Advanced Exercise Prescription, Administration and Epidemiology Physiology Policy 6 courses, Measurement, and College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Testing Coursework consists of advanced Cardiopulmonary Musculoskeletal Applied Research physiology such as musculoskeletal and Electrocardiography Physiology Health/Disease Methods cardiopulmonary systems and the assessment and prescription of exercise Physical Activity and Exercise Exercise: Advanced Exercise and physical activity in the context of the 6 courses, 18 credits Prescription, Science Core Physiology Measurement, and Testing social determinants of health.
