OVERVIEW: ONTARIO MUSIC INVESTMENT FUND Supports Ontario music Provides targeted economic companies with strong development investment to growth potential to maximize the province’s vibrant and return on investment diverse music industry OMIF Streams: Creates more opportunities for Music Creation emerging artists to record and Music Industry Initiatives perform in Ontario Live Music www.ontariocreates.ca 3

KEY PROGRAM GOALS  Focus resources on music companies with strong growth potential by: o Providing investment to drive long-term growth; and, o Maximizing ROI and enhancing opportunities for emerging talent.  Strengthen support at critical stages in the careers of artists. ANTICIPATED OUTCOMES: o Optimizing revenue, profits, job creation, private investment and tax revenue. o Production of content for domestic and international consumption, leading to sustained revenues and jobs in the province. o Increasing the profile and prestige of Ontario on the world stage. www.ontariocreates.ca 4

OMIF STREAM OBJECTIVES MUSIC CREATION:  Supporting businesses that take risks discovering and developing talent – particularly emerging artists – and bringing it to market through recording and production, marketing and promotion, touring and showcasing, and publishing (launched May 29) MUSIC INDUSTRY INITIATIVES:  Supporting collective industry initiatives to undertake professional development/training and export activities, conduct industry analysis/data gathering and build regional capacity (launched June 18) LIVE MUSIC:  Supporting businesses and organizations that produce or promote live music events featuring Canadian artists including eligible music festivals and concert series (launching late summer) www.ontariocreates.ca 5

  6. COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY & INCLUSION  Ontario Creates values and supports diversity and gender parity within the creative industries. Applications that represent and reflect Francophone, Indigenous, culturally and otherwise diverse members of Ontario’s music industry will be considered as part of the application assessment. EXCEPTIONS:  Exceptions to the eligibility requirements may be considered for applications from companies that are led by BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) or Francophone individuals and applicants that otherwise meet the provincial definition of diversity. www.ontariocreates.ca 6

  8. WHO CAN APPLY? All eligible applicants must:  Have revenues of $25,000 or more  Be incorporated in Canada and be in operation for at least two years  Have a head office in Ontario  Have key management personnel who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents, living in Ontario  Be in operation for at least two years prior to application  Be in good standing with Ontario Creates at time of application NOTE: First-time applicants MUST contact the Ontario Music Office in advance of the deadline to discuss eligibility. www.ontariocreates.ca 8

  9. WHO CAN APPLY? Music Management Companies All eligible applicants must:  Manage two or more artists  Have a roster that is at least 50% Canadian  Manage at least one artist with commercial release within the last 24 months  Have core business activities that:  guide the professional careers of artists by overseeing their day-to-day business affairs  advise and counsel artists concerning professional matters & strategic planning  engage in marketing, promotion and consulting on all aspects of an artist’s career www.ontariocreates.ca 9

DEADLINES & FUNDING LEVELS Maximum Funding Request: $10,000 Maximum OMIF contribution: 50% of the total approved budget Deadlines: Applicants can apply to ONE of the following deadlines: Thursday, August 6, 2020 by 5 pm for activities taking place between August 1, 2020 - July 31, 2021 or Tuesday, October 6, 2020 by 5 pm for activities taking place between October 1, 2020 - July 31, 2021 Only apply to first deadline if able to clearly articulate activities that have a reasonable chance of being executed within the eligible activity window. Apply to second deadline if additional time is needed to confirm plans. www.ontariocreates.ca 10

ELIGIBLE ACTIVITIES & COSTS Activities:  Contribute to business and market development goals  Relate to artist and company growth  Attendance at industry events  Planned sales and business trips to key territories  Participation in trade missions Costs:  Travel (flights, local transportation)  Accommodations  Registration  Per diems ($75 domestic / $100 international)  Marketing costs www.ontariocreates.ca 11

COVID-19  Activities may address COVID-19 responses, in keeping with program objectives.  Virtual activities/events that facilitate international business and audience development will be eligible (in lieu of travel/export-related expenses that may not currently be possible).  As the situation evolves, successful applicants may make activity changes as necessary.  The assessment process will take into account the importance of resilience and sustainability www.ontariocreates.ca 12
