Big Picture objectives • Prompted by Feb 1 grant application deadline but this is a bigger picture and longer-term potential • Building on PAS process • Get the public into a unique public area adjacent to the lake • Enhance use of current DNR-owned lands • Add to value of Lake Koshkonong
Specific Objectives • Build (in phases) wave barrier lakeward of unprotected DNR-owned wetlands • Protect / Extend Koshkonong Natural Area wetlands • Test alternative methods for wetland protection • Provide potential win-win project using spoil from shoreline dredging to the south as wetland restoration base • Enhance public access to major wetland complex and the lake • Remove navigation obstructions • Start of a 5 – year cooperative plan between RKLD & DNR?
