In March 2016 Ofsted reported that we are a ‘very good’ good provider • You and the leadership team have maintained a relentless focus on addressing the needs of the hardest to reach members of your community during a prolonged period of economic hardship • Well targeted and speedy interventions by managers mean that learners on these programmes, particularly trainees, are making good progress, with the great majority on target to achieve quals • Targeted support and better monitoring of attendance have addressed poor learner behaviour • Tutors are supported to make English and maths more vocationally relevant • The number and quality of work placements have been increased so they now give learners a more productive experience

learningSkills – Progression elevator Alternative Education For young people aged 14-16 who have been excluded from school Study programme with English, maths and science Study Programme/Traineeships POS - For those learners who need extra support in Maths & English Recognised qualification at Level 1 Providing them with the knowledge element of a vocation Traineeships - those who have the skills and knowledge but lack experience Work placement provided in a vocation of their choice Apprenticeships Good maths & English grades Ready for work learners Next step is to progress onto a level 3 apprenticeship or full time contract

Employer engagement • Placements are sourced on a weekly basis with local employers • Full H&S checks are completed • Learners are supported to prepare for and attend interviews • Placement reviews carried out on programme • Employers contacted to by BD team to convert placements into apprenticeships at a key point • All learners who complete a traineeship have priority access to live vacancies
learningSkills Assessment Centre • 25 weekly attendees • Verify their grades via certificates • Assessed for their chosen vocation • Informal chat with a tutor regarding experience, knowledge, confidence etc • Given access to more vacancies
