Multi Academy Trust • A Multi Academy Trust (MAT) is a group of schools who form a charitable company and who work together with one single group of ‘members’ who have an overview and a single Board of Trustees. The MAT is responsible for each of the academies in the trust. • Mission: to raise the educational standards and better the life chances of students within the MAT through working in partnership to challenge and supporting all schools to continually improve.
Why a MAT? • G overnment Policy: “Schools led system” MATs of between 8 – 12 schools is preferred (sustainable) model • Stronger more secure long term future • Schools collaborating, sharing good practice to improve standards for all students • Staff – career progression opportunities, staff retention, enhanced CPD • Financial efficiencies (schools budgets will be reduced) • Curriculum enrichment opportunities • Capacity to sponsor and then support under-performing schools to improve

Terms and Conditions • Teaching Staff – Continue with national pay scales – STPCD – Burgundy Book – Joint Consultation Committee established • Support Staff – Harmonisation of term and conditions – Harmonised pay scale • Harmonised employment policies in consultation with unions for all staff in the MAT
