  2. Ab Aboriginal Ac Acknowledgement We take this opportunity to acknowledge the shared traditional and unceded territory of the Coast Salish people on which Fleetwood Park Secondary is located. We acknowledge the Katzie, Semiahmoo, and Kwantlen First Nations. We also recognize the diverse population of people who have come to the Surrey School District and contribute to its dynamic culture.

  4. Gr Graduatin ing Cla lass of f 2020 • It’s a fantastic year – and a stressful time. • Sometimes our students panic that they are not ready for their futures – usually in January. • Support, reassure…it is okay to change your mind about future plans. • Let us know if you need help!

  5. Expectations of f Gr Grade 12s • Code of Conduct • District letter about Grad Pranks • Study Blocks • The Parking Lot and Student Driving • Fees are all paid ◦ $20 student fee; $50 commencement fee plus any other outstanding debts

  6. Eli ligibili lity to Gr Grad aduate • All credits / requirements in order to participate in graduation activities ◦ Commencement (formal) ◦ Dinner – Dance (fun) ◦ Dry Grad (fun with parents!) • Academic Probation = none of the above until academic probation is resolved

Dip iplo loma Veri rification Report • Student specific DVRs were distributed upon arrival – also available at the end of the assembly. • You and your child should sign up/in to the Ministry of Education (MOE) website. www.StudentTranscripts.gov.bc.ca • When applying for post secondary – transcripts are no longer printed on paper – everything is sent electronically from MOE • If you are worried about graduation status, contact your child’s Counsellor asap.

Post-Secondary • Deadlines for universities, colleges, and other institutions will come quickly! • PSI = Post Secondary Institutions ◦ Important: Students can go on-line to MOE website and have transcripts automatically sent to PSIs ◦ See Ms. Sammartino in Career Ed for instructions / help on how to send your transcripts

Cla lass of f 2020 - Dates • Sunday, May 24 – Grad Dinner Dance at Cascades Convention Centre in Langley; 5pm – 11pm • Sunday, May 24 – Dry Grad; 11pm – 5am • Monday, May 25 is a District Pro- D Day so grads don’t need to worry about missing classes! • Tuesday, June 9th – Commencement rehearsal at Fleetwood – distribution of gowns and tickets. • Friday, June 12 – Commencement at Bell Centre at 7pm. Grads need to arrive by 6:15pm

Commencement • Friday, June 12th @ Bell Centre for Performing Arts (Sullivan Heights Secondary) • The formal “cap and gown” ceremony. • Grad fee of $50 covers the costs associated with this ceremony. • Grads each receive 3 tickets for guest (grads do not need a ticket); any extra tickets will be distributed by waitlist in late May/early June through the office. • Mandatory rehearsal: Tuesday, June 9th @ 2:45, Fleetwood Park Plaza

  14. Din inner Dan ance • Sunday, May 24 @ Cascades Convention Centre in Langley (5pm – 11pm) • Formal student celebration • Ticket prices expected to be approximately $80 per student • Limited number of parent tickets may be available for the pre-dinner festivities (e.g. speeches, graduate-parent dance) • Parent ticket prices expected to be approximately $15 per parent • Student guests are permitted; applications will be available in second semester and will be due to the office by April 24, 2020

Dry ry Gr Grad ad • Sunday, May 24 – Monday, May 25 @ Cloverdale Recreation Centre • Separate Dry Grad Parent Committee that oversees fundraising and organization • Parent-sponsored activity held in conjunction with Dinner Dance • All participating students must also attend the Dinner Dance and must arrive at Dry Grad in the arranged transportation • Information can be sent through on our website • Sometimes….the grand prize is a CAR! • Next meeting: October 9th @ 7:00 PM in the Library

Gr Grad Photos - Art Artona • On-line appointments in their Mobile Photo Studio – parked in the East parking lot by the fields • Purchase not requiredfor photo session appointment • January 20 – 28, 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM • (January 23 & 24 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM) • Group (4-16 people) Photos also available: • Feb. 3 – 4, 4:30 PM – 8:30 PM • Register for sessions online at: www.artona.com
