FEDERAL MINISTRY OF DEFENCE AND SPORTS Institute of Military Geography Introduction • Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying • 3 main scales in the official topographic mapping in Austria – 1 : 50 000, 1 : 200 000, 1 : 500 000 (since 1959) – 1 : 250 000 since 2001 for the Austrian Armed Forces, 1 : 200 000 remained a civil map series (until 2009) – the first civil ‐ military map series 1 : 250 000 was published in 2010
