What we do… • Habitat provides a full house assessment and we prioritize the work that needs to be done on your home to ensure that it is safe, warm and dry. • Habitat focuses on critical repairs designed to make it possible to keep you safely in your home. • Habitat performs repairs done by skilled, supervised volunteer labor, trained Habitat staff and licensed and insured subcontractors to provide affordable repairs.
Selection for the Repair Program is Based on…. House Eligibility Habitat looks to some of these factors to determine whether your home is eligible for our services: Structural Water infiltration hazards High utility Safety issues bills/energy use Homeowner’s Exterior quality of life disrepair within the home
House Eligibility (cont.) o Necessary work must be within the capacity and budget of the program. o Homes must be safe and accessible for staff, subcontractors, and volunteers. o Homes with elevated levels of garbage, animal waste and pest infestation may not be considered until the issue has been resolved by the homeowner. o Homes with residential zoning violations may not be considered.
House Eligibility (cont.) Owner-occupied home • The applicant must be an owner of the home and live in it. • The house to be repaired must be the only house you own. Clear title to property • The deed to the house must be in the applicant’s name, or the applicant must be working to clear up ownership. Up to date on taxes • The applicant cannot owe the City property taxes, or must be up-to-date in a property tax agreement with the City. Up to date on mortgage • The applicant cannot be delinquent in paying a mortgage on the home, or must be “current” in a payment agreement with the lender. Home in designated service neighborhood • The house must be within the designated neighborhood boundaries • There may be other Habitat Repair programs that are available to you if your home is not in these areas.
Fee for Repairs o Repair services will be offered at a flat fee based upon homeowner income o Payable in four equal payments o First payment is due at contract signing o Applicant must be willing to provide updated income verification documentation if necessary when the repair project is complete
