Stigma and Discrimination Reduction (SDR) minigrant Speakers Bureau  $ 15,000 to start and fund a SP Speakers Bureau  Informal Competitive Procurement (ICP): CalMHSA Stigma and Discrimination Reduction Speakers  Listening Campaign Strategy  a series of small group discussions designed to review the SP strategies, assess, and discover the needs of underserved targeted at-risk groups in Santa Clara County. SDR…Speakers  Speakers will be selected based on their membership and participation in the Intervention Workgroup, their engagement, active involvement, and interest in speaking about their experience surviving a suicide attempt, experience as a family member/friend of a loss by suicide, and/or expertise in suicide prevention and the reduction of stigma and discrimination. Coroner’s Data Report  SCC Suicide Prevention Program has published an analysis of 2009-2011 Suicide Data of SCC.  The data for the report was extracted from redacted SCC Medical Examiner Coroner reports.  This report will be the 3 year baseline utilized for all upcoming yearly reports, beginning with 2012.  This report is meant to be utilized as a tool going forward for suicide prevention planning on all levels. Suicide and Crisis Services (SACS)  The Suicide and Crisis Services of Santa Clara County (SACS) provides a crisis hotline where highly trained volunteers are available 24 hours a day to talk with individuals in crisis.  The goal of SACS is to assist in defusing and de-escalating the crisis and helping to return the individual to his/her usual level of functioning.  Services are always available in English and in several other languages through a translator. Survivors of Suicide Support Group (SOS)  SACS provides a cost-free drop-in Survivors of Suicide Support Group (SOS) where adults who have lost a loved one to suicide can meet weekly to process some of the thought and feelings they are experience as a result of their loss.  Meetings are held every Monday evening  For the meeting times, place, and further information about SACS, please call: (408) 885-6216 Santa Clara County Health and Hospital System - Department of Mental Health 11

Recruiting Bilingual Crisis Counselors  The Crisis Phone Counselor is a voluntary, unpaid role, but as a volunteer you will benefit from:  a free and comprehensive 80-hour training on suicide assessment and crisis intervention  free clinical supervision for interns accruing BBSE licensing hours  support during your shift – volunteers work in groups of three  24 hour “on call” clinical consultation when needed  strong fellowship with fellow crisis counselors  satisfaction from helping your community in their own language!  Be a part of something that really makes a positive impact on people’s lives.
