  7. September – students sit the ALIS test during our induction programme.

  8. • Target setting is individualised. This is to allow all of our students to work to their maximum potential regardless of their starting point. • ALIS (Advanced Level Information System) predicts how likely students are to achieve particular subject grades. • ALIS has nothing to do with league tables. • CEM is a research organisation within Durham University and all analysis is underpinned by robust statistics and 30 years of research. Data from all CEM systems is confidential. October – ALIS data used alongside GCSE Average Point Scores to determine target grades.

  9. Targets, UCAS and next steps Minimum • this is ‘ours’, and comes from ALIS and GCSE APS. • It will not change. Expected Grade • This is the student’s. Target Grade • It will be the same as the MEG until the first data reports when students will have an opportunity to change it. Y12 Mock • This will be gained in mock exams in Summer 2018 Grade • This is what goes on the UCAS form and will be Predicted Grade determined by subject staff. • It will not be (much) different from current/AS grades.

  10. Individual Pupil Record • Nationally standardised scores for each of the 4 measures (100 is average) • ALIS Bands represent quartiles (25%) groups, with A being the highest Band Standardised Scores A 111-160 B 101-110 C 91-100 D 40-90

  11. Grade Points C or lower C or higher A* 8 A 7 B 6 C 5 D 4 E 3 B or higher A or higher F 2 G 1 F E D C B A A*

  12. Decoupled AS  AS will be stand-alone qualifications, so that the AS marks do not count towards the final A level grade.  This will end the routine, automatic external assessment of students at the end of year 12, allowing more time for teaching.  AS qualifications designed to be co-taught with A levels (in the same lessons). We will replace AS with a rigorous mock in the summer of 2018.
