Terminology 5
EREC G99 - Types (GB) • Types affect technical requirements and which forms you use Type A Type B Type C Type D <110 kV <110 kV <110 kV >110 kV Power Generating 0 800W 1 MW 10 MW 50 MW Module Registered Capacity 6
Compliance and Installation Process 7
EREC G99 - What part of the connection process is changing? Now After 27 April 2019 From Generator Concept to Connection Information Phase Information Phase Design Phase Design Phase Connection Offer Connection Offer Connection Acceptance Connection Acceptance Compliance Checking Compliance Checking Construction Phase Construction Phase Energisation/Commissioning Energisation/Commissioning Final Compliance Check Operational Notifications
EREC G99 Connection Process - Compliance Checking Technical requirements Generators can choose vary with Type how they demonstrate compliance Type Testing is expected Type B, C & D Compliance to be used for Type A is tracked in the PGMD DNO approval is required
EREC G99 Connection Process Compliance forms – Type A • For Type A, the form depends on the use of type testing Type A Manufacturer’s Information Site Tests Fully Type Tested No specific form Form A2-4 completed if site compliance tests are being Reference is made in the installation form undertaken for some or all Initial Submission to the registration on ENA website of Type A generator requirements and if Partially Type Tested Form A2-1 Synchronous PGM 50kW Interface Protection is not Form A2-2 Synchronous PGM >50kW Type Tested Form A2-3 Inverter connected PGMs Installation forms: Form A3-1 Type A PGMs From A3-2 Integrated micro generation and storage Prior to Synchronising
EREC G99 Connection Process Compliance forms – Types B, C & D • We expect compliance methods and the submission programme will be agreed between the Generator and DNO soon after acceptance of the Connection Offer. Type Manufacturer’s Information Site Tests Type B Form B2-1 Form B2-2 completed if generator Interface Protection Power Generating Module is not Type Tested and other compliance tests that are Initial Submission Document (PGMD) being undertaken on site. Form B3 Installation and Commissioning Confirmation Type C Form C2-1 Form C2-2 completed if generator Interface Protection & D Power Generating Module is not Type Tested and other compliance tests that are Document (PGMD) being undertaken on site. Form C3 Installation and Commissioning Confirmation Prior to Synchronising
Methods for Demonstrating Compliance 12
EREC G99 Connection Process Compliance Options Generator S – Simulation study gathers/ creates evidence P – Design data DNO MI – Manufacturers information Submit G99 Feeds back / evidence and Compliance Approves Checking PGMD D – correspondence or other documents confirming requirements are met T – Site tests or monitoring to demonstrate DNO compliance (may be witnessed) reviews evidence TV – Type Test reports
EREC G99 Connection Process Non Type Tested Protection Tests Non Type Tested Protection Site Tests - Forms A2-4, B2-2, C2-2 Calibration, accuracy and stability tests:- • Over and under voltage protection • Over and under frequency • Loss of mains protection (ROCOF)
EREC G99 Connection Process Installation Checks Installation Checks - Installation forms A3-1 or A3-2, B3, C3 Check the requirements of BS7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) are satisfied Check points of isolation between the PGMs and the rest of the Generator’s Installation Check labels have been installed at all points of isolation Check that settings schedule has been provided and settings applied correctly Check interlocking that prevents PGMs being connected in parallel with the DNO system Check that the PGM successfully synchronises , runs in parallel and disconnects Check that i nterface Protection operates and disconnects the DNO’s Distribution Network quickly (within 1s) when switch opens between the PGM and the DNO and remains disconnected for 20s.
EREC G99 Connection Process – Witnessing Site Tests We will not normally We may witness Partially witness site checks for Type Tested Type A fully type tested >100kW Exceptions include new We will witness all installer, random checks Type B, C & D site tests or quality concerns Electricity North West Witness Test Requirements
