What’s the Commitment? • Monthly one-hour conference calls for the year • Individual and group homework assignments • Two-day retreat in Kansas City • Class project and presentation at PWX • Attend PWX  This is the only cost incurred by the individual. Registration fee, travel, hotel, and meals are the responsibility of the student. The Iowa Chapter has sponsorship available to help offset the costs.

Our Leadership Projects: Class X: “Bringing the Public back into Public Works: A case study on leadership and the utilization of technology to provide outreach and build more resilient communities.” Class IX: “Preparing the Next Generation of Public Works: Equipping Leaders with Tools to Engage Staff and Harness the Power of Community” Class VII: “Who is Following the Leader? Succession Planning in Public Works” Class VI: “Educate, Inspire, Transform: Educate the leaders of tomorrow, Inspire them to get involved, Transform the future”

Individuals who have been working in the field of public works • or performing public works-related functions for no more than ten years or have been working for longer than 10 years but have been promoted into their first leadership role within the past three years . Interest in advancing their careers within the public works • profession Committed to full participation in all Emerging Leader • Academy assignments and activities, with the full support of their agency’s executive leadership . Public and private sector employees are encouraged to apply! • How did we Apply? • Go to www.APWA.net and search “Emerging Leaders Academy” • Pre-application Conference Call (1 hour) • Application deadline in August • Class list announced in September
