2010 - Exhibition “Floating Flowers ” , SBK-KNSM, Amsterdam, the Netherlands - Workshop “Tongkama” coöperation with Michal Pusczcynski, Częstochowa , Poland As a student of Shinkichi Tajiri, Elsbeth visited in 2008 the exhibi tion “Ukiyo - è” in Barcelona and was deeply impressed by centuries old Japanese prints. The theme “Ukiyo - è” stresses “the impermanence of reality”, or… “Floating like a poppy on the river”. It became the title of her works shown at the SBK exhibition in Amsterdam. Her Sun-flowers, or “Floating Flowers”, are fire d in a Tongkama kiln during a workshop in Częstochowa. These traditional Korean kilns can reach a temperature for nearly 1300°C!
That makes the “Floating Flowers” resistant against the Dutch weather and suitable for our gardens and cemeteries. It’s Elsbeth’s endeavour to start her works from “the emptiness”.
