  8. SCHOOL-WIDE/CLASSROOM ACKNOWLEDGMENT SYSTEM Josh Reger, Assistant Principal

  9. STUDENTS CAN GET RECOGNIZED FOR SHOWING EXPECTATIONS! FREQUENTLY!! • Be….. • Responsible • Respectful • Safe

  10. AWARDS TIME! • Citizenship-being responsible, respectful, and safe in all that you do. • Academic Achievement-being a responsible learner • Academic Improvement-showing great growth as a responsible learner • Perfect Attendance-Being responsible and being in school each and every day • Teacher’s Choice-teacher chooses! • Follow those expectations and get some cool awards!!

  11. BUT, WHAT IF A STUDENT REALLY NEEDS TO BE REMINDED ABOUT THE EXPECTATIONS? Unfortunately, there can be negative consequences for not showing positive behaviors. Teacher Expectations Reminders (not bad, • we all need some) Fix-It Tickets: (hmm) 3 will be some reflection • time in the Opportunity Room Phone calls home by teachers (not great) • Office Referrals (bad, avoid these) • No, consequences are not fun. But remember, Marshall Expectations are posted all over the place on campus for visual reminders.

  12. BEHAVIOR INTERVENTIONS- WE NEED THEM FOR ACADEMICS AND FOR BEHAVIOR • Tier 1: All Students: School Wide Expectations taught and use of a program called Second Step. • Tier 2/3: Small group counseling with our school Intervention Counselor. Short term, 6-8 weeks. School Wide Expectations are consistently reviewed with all students on a consistent basis: • In all of our locations • By teachers and administrators • At our Spirit Rallies

  13. SO WHAT CAN YOU AS PARENTS DO AT HOME? • Talk to your children about their day. Ask them about their successes and challenges. Praise the positives, correct the challenges. • If there are concerns, ask your child to explain them and tell you all the details. But remember, there are always two sides to every story. • Ask your child how they attempted to resolve any conflicts. • Reinforce the 3 B’s at home. Everything we do at Marshall is grounded in being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe. • If you have concerns, please contact your child’s teacher FIRST, as they are your children’s best advocate. • Above EVERYTHING else, celebrate school! Being openly critical of school procedures and policies can have long- lasting impacts on a child’s view of school and education.

  14. and RESPECT TO SUMMARIZE…

  15. SO WHY DOES THIS ALL REALLY MATTER? • Since you change people every day, make sure you change them for the better. –Aubrey C. Daniels Thank you all for attending!!
