UPDATE ON COMPLETED SEWER NETWORK SCHEMES CONE TERRACE, CHESTER LE STREET We have diverted a pipe bridge as part of the wider Chester Burn improvement work which is being carried out by Durham County Council. ESCOMB RISING MAIN Replacement of a failing pumping main from Escomb Pumping Station to Etherley Moor.

  4. UPDATE ON CURRENT SEWER NETWORK SCHEMES DURHAM CITY SEWER NETWORK IMPROVEMENTS We are working to improve the performance of the sewer network in Durham City and improve the environment. PROJECT 32% COMPLETE ROOKERY GARDENS, RUSHYFORD We are working to improve the sewer network in Rushyford, Ferryhill. PROJECT 92% COMPLETE

  5. UPDATE ON PLANNED SEWER NETWORK SCHEMES ESH WINNING SEWER We are investing in the long-term future of the sewers in Esh Winning. The existing sewer alongside the Priest Burn watercourse is vulnerable to cracking so we are replacing it. The project is due for completion by December 2020.

SEWAGE TREATMENT WORKS INVESTMENT DURHAM STW, BARKERS HAUGH A project to provide additional process units to serve the increasing population of Durham City and provide an enhancement of the treatment process to improve environmental protection. Works are now complete. RIVER GAUNLESS, BISHOP AUCKLAND We invested £9 million to improve Butterknowle, Cockfield and Ramshaw sewage treatment works. These works will improve the quality of the water in the River Gaunless. Works are now complete. SHERBURN STW We are investing in the treatment works to comply with revised guidance on phosphorus standards in the Water Framework Directive. We will also address any flow issues at the same time The project is due to start in 2021. Wolsingham STW We will be refurbishing the entire treatment works. The project is due to start in April 2020 and take 12 months to complete.

  7. DRAINAGE AND WASTEWATER PLAN The framework for DWMPs has been developed in response to the need to improve the approaches taken by the water sector to long-term drainage and wastewater planning with a view to providing greater transparency, robustness and line of sight to investment decisions that lead to cost to customers.

  9. ADOPTION OF SUDS - UPDATE From 1 st April 2020 NW must adopt SuDS offered for adoption by developers when they fulfil the definition of a sewer.
