The growth in lighting tracks growth in both GDP and population. • This pattern is typical of the countries undergoing rapid • development (e.g. Vietnam, Algeria, Albania, Portugal and others). d l ( i l i lb i l d h ) Developed countries, like USA have stable lighting across the same • time period, perhaps due to improvements in lighting efficiency? There is an indication that the growth of lighting in China slowed • due to the economic downturn that started in 2008.
