Division 22 Standards for Public Elementary and Secondary Schools 2018-19 Assurances: Report to the Community January 9, 2020
2 Each year, districts engage in a review of the administrative rules contained in OAR chapter 581, Divison 22 (Division 22 Standards).
Annual Review of Division 22 Standards 3 Provides an opportunity for school districts to demonstrate ● compliance with rigorous standards, reflect on areas in need of attention and alignment, and plan for how to address them. Allows districts to inform School Boards and community if there ● ● have been any recent changes in policy or practice that may take the district out of compliance with any of the Division 22 Standards during the current school year (2019- 20). Promotes reciprocal accountability between school districts and the ● Oregon Department of Education (ODE).
Annual Division 22 Timeline 4 By February 1, 2020: School district’s report to their local School Board ● the district’s compliance with all Division 22 Standards for the 2018-19 school year. School Board Action Item: Acknowledge receipt of Division 22 Report ○ By February 1, 2020: School districts post the report to their websites. ● ● By February 15, 2020: School districts complete and submit the annual ● Division 22 Assurances Form.
DDSD Process to Determine Compliance with Division 22 Standards 5 Cabinet engages in an overview of all of the standards. ● Standards are divided among the Superintendent, Assistant ● ● Superintendent and Cabinet Directors for areas we each oversee. Each person does a deeper review of their assigned standard(s) with ● appropriate personnel. The standard is re-read and current practice is assessed against what is outlined in the administrative rule. New: A select number of standards are identified for schools to report ● compliance. Principals engage in a review of the selected standards, assess against building practices, and determine overall compliance. .
DDSD Process to Determine Compliance with Division 22 6 Cabinet discusses each standard one by one and determines overall ● compliance rating. If we are out of compliance we will... ● Provide an explanation as to components in the OAR where we ○ are out of compliance and why. Provide a description of the district’s proposed corrective ○ action plan to come into compliance by the beginning of the 2020-21 school year.
