What is Mental Fitness?
Mental fitness means having a positive sense of how you feel, think, and act, which improves your ability to enjoy life.

Autonomy Support • Understand the other’s perspective (Try to understand their internal frame of reference) • Encourage self- reflection, or “interest - taking” • Offer meaningful choices • Provide a rationale for requested behaviour • Minimize pressure and control, such as rewards or controlling language (e.g., “should”, “must”)
Relatedness Support • Conveys respect for the individual • People feel valued and significant • Expressing care and concern when others face challenges • Demonstrate warmth & inclusion • Provide opportunities to contribute to something or give to others
