Positive Trends ● Protective Factors ○ Adult support ○ School attachment ○ School engagement ● Steady and Positive Improvement ○ Use of conventional cigarettes ○ Alcohol use ○ Distracted driving
Stress Symptoms ● Gender differences -- females nearly 2x more likely as males to report increased stress. ● Stress increases gradually throughout high school -- nearly doubling from 9th grade to 12th grade. ● Common sources of stress ○ School ○ Social issues ○ Physical or emotional health
Depressive Features ● Feeling sad or hopeless ● Self-injury (e.g., cutting, burning oneself on purpose) ● Gender differences ○ Females 2x more likely to report ● LGTBQ+ youth and students with disabilities at higher risk for mental health concerns
